Job summary

CAPS & Maple City is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to act as the organization’s senior financial strategist and advisor, reporting to the CEO and Leadership Council. You will lead long-term financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, capital decisions, and risk management, while ensuring internal controls and regulatory compliance through the VP of Finance.

This role shapes strategic direction and partnerships, oversees external audits, and guides financial operations to sustain

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • MBA or CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years Business experience, health care experience preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare, nonprofit
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides executive leadership for the organization's financial strategy, long-term sustainability and overall financial performance.
  • Leads long-range financial planning, forecasting and financial modeling to support organizational strategy and growth.
  • Oversees the annual budgeting process, and recommends the annual budget to the CEO and Board.
  • Leads and develops the finance function through the VP of Finance and Controller to ensure effective financial operations, reporting and controls.
  • Interprets financial results, trends, opportunities and risks and communicates actionable recommendations to organizational leadership and the Board.

Job Summary

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a member of the Leadership Council and serves as CAPS & Maple City's senior financial strategist and advisor. The CFO provides executive leadership for the organization's long-term financial sustainability, financial performance, strategic planning, forecasting, capital and investment decisions, and financial risk management. Working through the Vice President (VP) of Finance and Controller, the CFO ensures strong financial operations, accounting practices, internal controls, reporting and regulatory compliance. The CFO partners closely with the CEO, Leadership Council and Board of Directors to translate financial information into sound organizational strategy and decision-making.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Directly supervises the VP of Finance and Controller and provides executive leadership and oversight for the Finance Department.
  • Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides executive leadership for the organization's financial strategy, long-term sustainability and overall financial performance.
  • Serves as a strategic financial advisor to the CEO, leadership council, Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
  • Leads long-range financial planning, forecasting and financial modeling to support organizational strategy and growth.
  • Establishes financial goals, assumptions and performance measures and monitors organizational performance against them.
  • Oversees the annual budgeting process, working through the VP of Finance, and recommends the annual budget to the CEO and Board.
  • Evaluates the financial implications of new programs, service lines, partnerships, capital investments, reimbursement changes and other strategic opportunities.
  • Leads organizational cash-flow, reserve, investment, debt and capital strategies to ensure short- and long-term financial stability.
  • Provides executive oversight of financial risk, internal controls, regulatory compliance and external audits, working through the VP of Finance and Controller.
  • Provides executive leadership for significant financial relationships and negotiations, including banking, financing, investments, insurance and major contracts.
  • Leads and develops the finance function, establishing clear accountability and working through the VP of Finance and Controller to ensure effective financial operations, reporting and controls.
  • Interprets financial results, trends, opportunities and risks and communicates actionable recommendations to organizational leadership and the Board.
  • Evaluates and advises on the financial impact of long-range organizational strategy, regulatory changes and the evolving healthcare and human-services
  • Leads and develops the Finance team, working through the Vice President of Finance and Controller to establish clear accountability and ensure effective financial operations, reporting, controls, and compliance.
  • Other duties that support our shared work, as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience
