Our client, a rapidly expanding cannabis company, is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead financial planning, analysis, accounting, and overall financial operations. As a key member of the executive team, the CFO will provide essential financial guidance to support the company’s growth and business objectives.
- This is a remote role with occasional travel
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee all financial functions, including accounting, planning and analysis, treasury, budgeting, and reporting.
- Provide strategic financial guidance to the CEO and executive team to support business growth and capital allocation.
- Develop and execute financial strategies that drive profitability and align with long-term objectives.
- Ensure compliance with all financial, tax, and cannabis-specific regulations, including Section 280E and banking limitations.
- Manage financial risk through strong internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts, and budgets to leadership and investors.
- Lead capital raising efforts and manage cash flow to support expansion and operational needs.
- Oversee timely and accurate tax filings, including cannabis-specific tax issues.
- Maintain relationships with financial institutions, auditors, tax advisors, and regulators.
- Evaluate mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships, providing financial due diligence and recommendations.
- Mentor and lead the finance and accounting teams to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align financial strategies with business goals.
- Implement and optimize financial systems and processes for improved efficiency and reporting.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; an MBA or CPA is highly preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in senior financial leadership roles, with experience in the cannabis, manufacturing, or highly regulated industries.
- In-depth understanding of cannabis industry regulations, including Section 280E, and the complexities of financial management in the cannabis space.
- Proven experience in strategic financial planning, capital raising, and cash flow management.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial compliance, and tax regulations.
- Experience managing external audits and maintaining relationships with financial institutions, investors, and regulatory agencies.
- Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights.
- High level of integrity, transparency, and ability to manage confidential financial information.
- Proficient in financial software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Compensation : $210,000-230,000 plus Medical, Dental, Vision and 401K benefits
