CFO Recruit is partnering with a client in Austin to appoint a CFO. This role would suit a CFO or Director or VP of Finance. We are looking for an experienced finance leader to serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for the company's financial strategy, planning, and operations. This role requires expertise in manufacturing finance, including cost accounting, supply chain economics, capital equipment investment, and inventory management, combined with strong strategic and leadership capabilities.
The CFO will have the following responsibilities:
- Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, partnering with the CEO on overall business strategy and growth plans.
- Develop and execute financial strategies that support scaling manufacturing operations.
- Act as primary liaison to the Board of Directors, investors, and lenders on financial matters.
- Own budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
- Present insight to the leadership team to improve margins through detailed analysis by product line, customer, and contract.
- Provide recommendations and highlight financial impact of capacity expansion, automation investments, and introducing new product lines.
- Oversee standard costing, variance analysis, and BOM cost management.
- Partner with Operations and drive improvements around inventory valuation, stock counts, and waste.
- Manage working capital.
- Support procurement and supply chain teams on cost forecasting.
- Ensure accurate, timely financial statements (GAAP) and strong internal controls.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners.
- Oversee compliance with relevant regulations.
- Manage banking relationships, debt facilities, and cash management.
- Build, mentor, and scale the finance and accounting organization.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Engineering, and Sales.
To be successful in this role the CFO will have the following skills & experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA and/or MBA preferred.
- 12+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including 5+ years in a senior finance role (CFO, VP Finance, or Controller) within manufacturing.
- Strong background in cost accounting, inventory management, and manufacturing operations finance.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Epicor, or similar) and manufacturing execution systems.
- Demonstrated experience managing banking relationships, credit facilities, and audits.
- Excellent communication skills with experience presenting to boards/investors.
