Job summary

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) directs the organization's financial operations in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit financial management best practices. JOB SUMMARY:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) directs the organization's financial operations in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and nonprofit financial management best practices. As a member of the senior leadership team, the CFO is responsible for the planning, implementation, management, and oversight of all financial activities. This position reports directly to the President & CEO.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Leadership

• Lead the organization's financial planning, operations, performance, and fiscal management.
• Oversee accounts payable, payroll, and associated general ledger reconciliations
• Manage the annual budget process and board approval.

Evaluate and advise on the financial impact of long-range planning, new programs/strategies, and regulatory action.

Deliver timely financial analysis and insights to support executive and Board decision-making.

Oversee the government grants compliance function, ensuring organizational adherence to grant requirements and accountability for the annual Single Audit and Schedule of Federal Awards (SEFA) preparation.

Lead continuous improvement of the budgeting process by educating budget owners and optimizingbudget software.

Direct treasury management activities, including banking relationships and liquidity.

Manage cash flow and forecasting. Develop a reliable cash flow projection process

Provide financial counsel on contracts and agreements entered into by BGCMA.

Evaluate the finance team structure and plan for continuous improvement.

Board and Committee

Participate in BGCMA board meetings.

Manage BGCMA Investment and Budget & Finance Committees.

Lead Investment and Budget & Finance Committee activities, including reporting, approvals, and action plan implementation.

Department Management

• Lead and develop the finance team through strategic talent acquisition, performance management, coaching, and succession planning.
• Foster a culture of collaboration and inclusion and ensure staff accountability.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Education

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• Master’s degree (MA), MBA, or equivalent preferred
• CPA or demonstrated equivalent knowledge level in accounting

Experience

• Ten to fifteen (10-15) years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Mix of non-profit and corporate experience preferred
• Treasury, investment management, and contract management experience required
• Knowledge of fund accounting, endowed, and restricted funds.

ENVIRONMENT & WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal internal office environment with occasional need to travel to club locations within the Metro Atlanta area. Frequent internal contacts with employees throughout the organization are required.

Regular travel to Metro Atlanta club locations. Occasional weekend and evening work to support program or related activities.
