Job Description

As a key member of the senior leadership team, the Chief External Affairs Officer (CEAO) will develop and strategically direct initiatives across Prime’s government affairs, public policy, and communications teams to advance the company’s business objectives and enhance its reputation. This position is responsible for being a collaborative, strategic leader that closely coordinates between Prime's External Affairs, Marketing, and Strategy departments to maintain alignment across growth, brand, and enterprise narrative.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior executives and cross-functional teams to align external affairs initiatives with the company’s overall business strategy

  • Lead the development of public policy positions that support Prime’s strategic goals, ensuring the company’s strategy is informed by policy insights and emerging trends

  • Drive public discourse on critical healthcare topics such as drug pricing, access, and transparency, positioning Prime as a credible, proactive voice in legislative and regulatory arenas

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to promote Prime’s brand, vision, and values, reinforcing a unified external presence

  • Partner with senior executives and cross-functional teams to align external affairs initiatives with the company’s overall business strategy

  • Lead a proactive policy function that generates, studies, socializes, and promotes policies aligned with Prime’s business model, establishing Prime as a thought leader among PBMs

  • Foster long-term relationships with policymakers, identifying trends and shaping the external policy environment in alignment with Prime’s strategy and values

  • Serve as a public spokesperson for the company as needed, representing Prime’s interests with clarity, credibility, and authority

  • Oversee corporate communications strategy, ensuring consistent, effective messaging to internal and external stakeholders, including media, clients, partners, and the public

  • Provide leadership to staff, including mentorship, resource planning, oversight and work direction

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, communications, political science, or a related field

  • 15 years of relevant work experience in PBM or Healthcare

  • 10 years leadership/people management experience

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without the need for work visa or residency sponsorship

Additional Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in government affairs, public policy, and corporate communications

  • Proven track record of successful advocacy, policy development, and communications strategies in the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry

  • Strong understanding of the legislative and regulatory processes

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to influence and drive change

  • Ability to travel up to 20% of time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare company experience

  • Advanced degree in public policy, communications, political science, or a related field

Potential pay for this position ranges from $232,000.00 - $441,000.00 based on experience and skills.
