Job description

The client seeks a Chief Executive Officer to lead a highly visible and respected cultural institution in Indianapolis, IN. Supported by an experienced leadership team, an engaged Board of Directors, and a community that values its contributions, the CEO will build on a strong foundation while guiding the organization through its next phase of growth, including providing strategic vision to expand impact, strengthen community role, and advance artistic excellence through innovation.

The CEO will help carry forward a musician- and community-endorsed strategic plan and is expected to play a key leadership role in launching an upcoming capital campaign. This position will deepen engagement across the community and partner with a dedicated team of musicians and staff, working closely with a 37-member Board of Directors to guide the organization’s long-term direction.

The organization serves a broad audience through concerts and educational programs over a 12-month season, welcoming more than 200,000 people annually and presenting more than 150 concerts and educational offerings. The client is supported by an endowment and operates with a significant annual operating budget; the CEO will lead in support of these priorities and will be expected to demonstrate strong strategic leadership, an ability to champion artistic innovation, and effective partnership with the Board and organizational leadership.
