Job description

The Master’s Apprentice is a 501(C)(3), faith-based, nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming lives in overlooked communities by offering a bridge to a career in the skilled trades.

Program Overview

The Master’s Apprentice is a faith-based workforce development ministry offering a no-cost, 6-week, full-time pre-apprenticeship program. It is designed to help motivated individuals from low-income backgrounds begin careers in high-demand trades such as Carpentry, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Pipefitting, and Renewable Energy. Students receive hands-on training, industry exposure, and durable skills development. This includes work ethics, teamwork, and construction math. Students gain the foundation needed to succeed in the trades. Students graduate with professional resumes, industry certifications, and direct connections to employers. Through access to trade professionals and dedicated job placement support, The Master’s Apprentice prepares students to successfully begin a career in the construction industry.

Position Overview

The Chief Executive Director (CEO) must be a believer and support the ministry’s Statement of Faith. The CEO must be a creative, entrepreneurial self-starter to lead the non-profit to the next level in developing a strong donor base, foundation support, sustainable income, and increasing corporate and community partnerships, while continuously improving the pre-apprentice program to meet or exceed industry standards for the skilled trades. The ideal candidate will promote the organization’s vision and strategic plan with the ability to lead. The CEO will be responsible for the management of all staff, programs, volunteers, grants, foundations, and donor development, creating and meeting budgets, recruiting students, and building relationships with potential employers in the skilled trades industry.

The CEO must work closely with the Board of Directors to advance the mission, ensure financial stability, and oversee day-to-day operations. The CEO will serve as the primary spokesperson and organizational leader, cultivating relationships with donors, faith partners, volunteers, staff, corporate partners, and the broader community.

Qualifications
  • Degree in education, business, non-profit management, or related field, with 3-5 years of leadership in a nonprofit or ministry setting.
  • Proven track record of fundraising, fiscal management, and Board relations.
  • Must be a compelling communicator and storyteller.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient and knowledgeable in working with technology, Microsoft Office, and social media.
  • Experience in, or knowledge of the various construction trades; a candidate with a current network of industry contacts is preferred.
  • Experience working with struggling at-risk, low-income populations.
  • Must be familiar with developing zero-based budgets, managing resources wisely, and being frugal when spending.
  • Experience with the construction or manufacturing industry and related trades.
  • CEO position pays $135-$150,000, based on experience and qualifications (potential performance bonus)
  • 401(k) match up to 4%.
  • Employee-only health insurance is fully employer-paid. Dental and vision plans are offered but not employer-covered.
  • Life insurance.
  • Employee Assistance Program.
  • 15 days of paid time off, beginning on the first day of employment.
  • Paid holidays include New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
  • The Master’s Apprentice is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We welcome applicants and program participants of all faiths and backgrounds.
