Job description

Future In Sight | Concord, New Hampshire
Lead the Next Chapter of a Mission More Than a Century in the Making

Since 1912, Future In Sight has been helping people who are blind and visually impaired live with greater independence, confidence, and opportunity.

Today, Future In Sight serves individuals and families throughout New Hampshire through specialized vision rehabilitation, education, accessibility, and community-based services. Its team of approximately 25 professionals includes occupational therapists specializing in low vision, teachers of students with visual impairments, orientation and mobility specialists, social workers, case management professionals, and other dedicated team members delivering services throughout communities across the state.

Future In Sight is seeking its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to honor that remarkable legacy while helping shape what comes next.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will provide the vision, leadership, and strategic direction needed to strengthen the organization, expand its impact and resources, develop its people, and ensure long-term sustainability.

The Opportunity:

Future In Sight is at an important point in its history. The next CEO will have the opportunity to establish a clear strategic framework for the future, strengthen organizational culture and employee confidence, develop the leadership team, and expand fundraising, partnerships, and revenue opportunities.

The Board is seeking a visible, people-centered, visionary leader who can inspire others around the mission while bringing the business discipline necessary to sustain and grow it.

What You'll Lead
  • Develop and execute a clear strategic plan that establishes organizational priorities, direction, and measures of success.
  • Build, develop, and empower a strong leadership team while fostering a culture of trust, accountability, collaboration, and connection to the mission.
  • Strengthen employee engagement, communication, retention, and support across a highly specialized and geographically distributed workforce.
  • Champion Future In Sight's mission among donors, foundations, corporate partners, community leaders, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Expand fundraising, major-gift, grant, partnership, and other revenue opportunities to strengthen long-term financial sustainability.
  • Maintain responsibility for the organization's financial health, working closely with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, resource allocation, compliance, and performance.
  • Partner collaboratively and transparently with the Board of Directors on strategy, governance, organizational performance, opportunities, and risks.
  • Serve as the public face of Future In Sight, strengthening its visibility, partnerships, advocacy, and impact throughout New Hampshire and beyond.
  • Lead organizational growth and change thoughtfully while protecting the quality and continuity of the services Future In Sight provides.
What We're Looking For

There is no single career path to becoming the right CEO for Future In Sight. The Board is interested in accomplished, mission-driven leaders who can demonstrate the ability to lead people, set strategy, build relationships, strengthen financial sustainability, and inspire confidence.

Strong candidates will bring:

  • Significant senior or executive leadership experience with responsibility for people, strategy, organizational performance, and results.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including budgeting, resource allocation, sustainability, and performance measurement.
  • Demonstrated success building, developing, motivating, and retaining strong teams.
  • Experience developing and executing strategy and leading through growth, change, or organizational transformation.
  • Strong relationship-building skills across employees, Boards, donors, community partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with fundraising, development, business development, revenue growth, or other relationship-driven growth initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication and public-speaking skills with the presence and credibility to represent the organization externally.
  • A collaborative, empathetic, and accountable leadership style grounded in genuine respect for people.
  • A bachelor's degree; an advanced degree is valued but not required.

Experience in nonprofit leadership, healthcare, rehabilitation, human services, disability services, education, fundraising, community-based service delivery, or geographically distributed organizations would be particularly valuable.

Direct experience in blindness or vision services is not required. The successful CEO must, however, bring a genuine connection to Future In Sight's mission and the ability to understand and advocate for the people and communities it serves.

Future In Sight is headquartered in Concord, New Hampshire. The CEO will maintain a meaningful presence in Concord while also being visible throughout the communities the organization serves.

The position offers flexibility in how and where work is performed while requiring regular availability for on-site leadership, community engagement, donor and partner relationships, and regional travel.

Future In Sight offers a competitive executive compensation package with flexibility based on the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate.

The position also includes a performance-based incentive opportunity and a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, paid time off, disability coverage, and additional benefits.

Why Future In Sight?

For more than a century, Future In Sight has helped people experiencing blindness or vision loss maintain their independence and participate fully in their homes, schools, workplaces, and communities.

The next CEO will have the opportunity to preserve what makes Future In Sight special while creating a clear strategy for its future, strengthening its culture, expanding its resources, and building the team and partnerships necessary to carry the mission forward.

For the right leader, this is an opportunity to do more than run an organization. It's an opportunity to shape its next chapter.
