Qualifications

  • 10–15 years of experience estimating structural steel erection or heavy steel construction projects.
  • Proven experience leading estimates for projects $5M–$20M+ in value.
  • Strong understanding of steel erection sequencing and field operations.
  • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., FabTrol, Tekla EPM, Bluebeam, or equivalent) is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.

  • Prepare bid proposals, cost breakdowns, and supporting documentation for executive review.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, value engineering discussions, and client presentations as needed.

Job Title : Chief Estimator – Structural Steel Erection (Remote)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Chief Estimator with a strong background in structural steel erection and construction to lead our estimating department. This is a fully remote position with no travel required. The ideal candidate will bring 10–15 years of experience estimating large-scale structural steel projects valued from $5M to $20M+, including arenas, stadiums, airports, manufacturing facilities, and automotive dealerships.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the full estimating process for structural steel erection projects, from conceptual design through bid submission.

Analyze drawings, specifications, and project requirements to develop detailed, accurate estimates.

Coordinate with project management, engineering, and fabrication teams to ensure bid accuracy and constructability.

Develop and maintain pricing databases, subcontractor / vendor relationships, and historical cost data.

Review and validate estimates prepared by junior estimators, providing mentorship and technical guidance.

Prepare bid proposals, cost breakdowns, and supporting documentation for executive review.

Location & Schedule

Remote position – no travel required.

Candidates should reside within or near the U.S. Central Time Zone for optimal collaboration with company operations. Applicants in Eastern or Mountain Time Zones will also be considered.
