Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management or 10+ years in the construction industry.
  • Minimum of five years in the commercial concrete industry.
  • Knowledge of design principles and engineering specifications related to concrete.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and other technical documents.
  • Understanding of basic geometry and trigonometry.
  • Proficiency in concrete design and estimation software similar to Tekla, E-Takeoff, Sage, and Stack.
  • Experience with construction scheduling.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel to project sites for preconstruction and construction visits.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the overall bid process for concrete projects assigned to the Concrete Division.

  • Maintain Building Connected bid invitations and create vendor invitations.
  • Update bid information and submit proposals through Building Connected or other websites.
  • Collaborate with leaders to develop bid strategies, resources, safety, quality, and schedules.
  • Update bid logs in Mondays.com and related records.
  • Develop accurate cost estimates for crane selection, rigging, and erection.
  • Travel to project sites for preconstruction and visits.
  • Analyze projects to identify problems and mitigation strategies.

Job description

  • Manage the overall bid process for concrete projects assigned to the Concrete Division
  • Pursue projects throughout the pre-proposal and proposal cycle
  • Prepare detailed estimates covering labor, equipment, and material fabrication costs
  • Maintain Building Connected bid invitations
  • Create bid invitations to vendors and suppliers
  • Update bid information
  • Submit proposals through Building Connected or other required websites
  • Work with the Business Unit Leader, General Superintendent, Safety Department, and Quality Manager to develop bid strategies, resource availability, vendor relationships, safety requirements, quality requirements, and project schedules
  • Update bid logs in Mondays.com, Steel Division folders, Bid Status logs in Excel, and other required records
  • Develop accurate cost estimates involving crane selection, rigging, bracing, and general erection of structural and miscellaneous steel
  • Travel to project sites for preconstruction and construction visits
  • Analyze projects from start to finish, identify potential problems, and develop mitigation strategies
  • Communicate with architects, engineers, and other project professionals to support on-budget and on-time completion
  • May supervise Estimator roles
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management OR a minimum of ten years’ experience in the construction industry
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the commercial concrete industry
  • Knowledge of design principles and engineering specifications related to concrete
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and other technical documents
  • Understanding of basic geometry and trigonometry
  • Proficiency in concrete design and estimation software similar to Tekla, E-Takeoff, Sage, and Stack
  • Experience with construction scheduling
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate with team members
  • Ability to travel to project sites for preconstruction and construction visits
  • Must be eligible to work without visa sponsorship; this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship
  • Ability to frequently lift/move up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift/move up to 100 lbs
  • Ability to perform required physical activities, including standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
