Michael Page is partnering with a Mobile, AL-based general contractor to place a skilled Estimator who will own Preconstruction and drive the growth of the estimating function.   • 7-10+ years of commercial estimating with a general contractor; strong hard-bid experience required, GMP and cost-plus preferred.
  • Demonstrated ownership of an estimating function, not solely production estimating under someone else's process.
  • Mastery of quantity takeoff and scope development across all CSI divisions.
  • Proven implementation of estimate QA/QC, bid-day procedure, proposal leveling, and Basis of Estimate documentation.
  • Working knowledge of schedule logic and how durations drive staffing and general conditions.
  • Strong commercial literacy: bonds, insurance endorsements, permits and fees, liquidated damages, certified payroll.

Short-term, this role involves leading the company's estimating as they redirect their Project Managers, becoming more efficient. Long-term, this role will build a preconstruction team around them and Direct them accordingly.

This clienthas been in business for over 20 years, however they have remained a smaller General Contractor on purpose, maintaining a low overhead and high margin approach to projects. That being said, they have recently implemented a strategic growth plan allowing for additional project intake, and requiring the addition of driven industry professioals across the board.

With $40M in yearly revenue currently, and a goal of hitting $100M annually by 2030, they are bidding new work and project sizes and plan to scale the business to new heights.

Desired Skills and Experience

Seeking an experienced Preconstruction professional capable of taking over and directing the full Estimating department for a 20-person commercial GC. Long-term, this individual will be growing an Estimating team and directing them accordantly.

Current backlog consists of $1M - $10M projects, both ground-up and renovation. They are also beginning to tackle larger individual projects including $20M warehouses.
