Methuen Construction Company, Inc. is seeking a Chief Estimator based in Plaistow, NH. This on-site role requires managing multiple estimating projects while upholding company standards of quality and coordinating with operations for budget and schedule adherence.

The successful candidate will lead a team of estimators, oversee bid day activities, and drive process improvements to keep estimating practices at the forefront of the industry. Travel to Northeast sites is expected.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or technical degree or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of estimating experience across self-perform disciplines.
• Experience in complex industrial, heavy civil, or building construction.
• Understanding of water and wastewater treatment plant processes and construction standards.
• Experience leading/supervising estimators to develop comprehensive estimates.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Periodic travel may be required based on project needs.
• Strong computer skills are essential.

About the Role

Methuen Constructionis currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Chief Estimator based in its Plaistow, NH office.

Projects may be a mix of Design-Bid-Build, Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), and Design-Build and range in size from $20 - $500 million. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple, simultaneous estimating projects and resources while maintaining company standards of quality and sponsoring the estimate through the operations and management team’s reviews. The position will require strong leadership, management, coordination, organizational, and communication skills along with the ability to deliver high-quality cost estimates within the prescribed budget and schedule.

Essential Functions

• Serve as the primarily responsible party for all estimating assignments.
• Review solicitation and design documents such as contracts, specifications and drawings to identify risks and opportunities related to competitive pricing.
• Develop and manage the estimate schedule and coordinate internal milestone dates with the discipline estimators.
• Distribute design and solicitation documents to the pricing team while maintaining revision control during estimate development.
• Review the final multi-discipline estimate and prepare reports and other deliverables for the management review.
• Ensure complete estimate coverage and gap elimination.
• Oversee all “bid day” activities for traditional design-bid-build pursuits.
• Effect process improvement to ensure that the company’s estimating practices maintain at the forefront of the industry.

Basic Qualifications

• BS in Engineering, Construction Management, other technical degree, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of estimating experience, preferably encompassing multiple self-perform disciplines.
• Experience in complex industrial facility, heavy civil, and building construction disciplines.
• Understanding of water and wastewater treatment plant processes and construction standards.
• Experience leading and supervising other estimators to develop a comprehensive project estimate.
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
• Periodic travel may be required based on project needs.
• Strong computer skills are essential.

Preferred Qualifications

• 20+ years of relevant estimating experience, preferably at multiple levels of design completion.
• Experience with HCSS HeavyBid and AGTEK Estimating Software.
• Self-perform estimating experience in site/civil, concrete construction, and/or process mechanical construction.

Travel

Travel is primarily limited to Northeast jobsite locations. This position is ONSITE in Plaistow, New Hampshire when not traveling to assigned jobsites.
