Job description

Torch Technologies

We are seeking an experienced Chief Engineer/Chief Architect to lead our Technology Development Engineering Divisions in delivering high‑quality solutions. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of driving process rigor in engineering, quality, safety, risk management, and top technical issues management.

Chief Engineer/Chief Architect Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engineering processes and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
• Lead cross‑functional teams to design, develop, and deliver complex mechanical, electrical, optical hardware and AI/ML software solutions.
• Coordinate with Technical Directors, Program Managers, and Business Development Leads to oversee and execute the development of technical roadmaps and strategies to drive innovation and growth across the Business Unit.
• Drive quality, safety, and environmental standards and compliance across the Business Unit and Business Group(s).
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with engineering projects, oversee Change Boards, present status and recommendations at monthly reviews to include Government customers.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve top technical issues and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles.
• Active Secret Clearance required with ability to obtain and maintain a Top‑Secret security clearance.
• Proven track record of driving process rigor in cross‑functional high‑performing engineering teams.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• 15+ years of related experience.
• Experience with AS9100 and ISO14001 standards.
• Experience leading the development and manufacturing of flight and safety‑critical hardware products.
• Experience developing and executing highly compelling IR&D programs.
• Demonstrated experience in creating and sustaining new hardware/software product business lines and familiarity with other markets.
• Active Top‑Secret clearance.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.

Position is contingent on contract award.

Schedule: M-F; 8-5

Work Location: Torch site, Huntsville, Alabama

Travel: 0‑10%
