Job summary

MITRE seeks a visionary Systems Engineering Methods & Innovation Capability Chief Engineer (CCE) to define and drive technical strategy, execute programs, and apply MBSE, digital engineering, AI-enabled practices, and lab infrastructures across MITRE’s divisions.

The role emphasizes leadership in technical strategy, cross-department collaboration, and staff mentorship, with on-site engagement and a strong focus on advancing sponsor capabilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years of systems engineering methods or related technical experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 10 years and a master’s; or a PhD with 7 years.
• Deep technical expertise in systems engineering methods, analysis, and evidence-driven engineering.
• Ability to influence strategic decisions in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
• Proven track record of rapid problem-solving across domains.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; mentoring experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical quality efforts and develop standards within key programs.
• Drive capability development and strategic investments in methods and lab infrastructure.
• Collaborate with senior leaders to strengthen the technical program and product definition.
• Provide staff mentorship and contribute to talent development planning.
• Provide direct sponsor contributions with measurable impact in systems engineering methods.
