Job summary

PenBay Technology Group seeks a full-time Top Level Engine Mariner Subject Matter Expert with USCG MMC credentials and extensive sailing experience. The role centers on evaluating and approving basic mariner courses, and shaping curriculum for advanced training across multiple propulsion modes.

Preferred candidates will have experience in curriculum development, familiarity with course design, and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Must hold or have held a U.S. Coast Guard MMC endorsed as Chief Engineer of vessels of any horsepower (Unlimited HP) for Motor (Diesel), Steam or Gas Turbine propulsion OR MMC endorsed as First Assistant Engineer of vessels of any horsepower (Unlimited HP) for Motor (Diesel), Steam or Gas Turbine propulsion.
• Minimum of five years of sailing experience on that credential.
• Experience with multiple propulsion modes is preferred but not required.
• Experience in writing or developing training courses is preferred but not required.
• High School Diploma; BA/BS with maritime curriculum preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years experience, 10 years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and approve basic level courses for training (25 courses per month total).
• Assess and curate the listed basic level courses (e.g., Basic Fire Fighting, First Aid, CPR, etc.).
• Coordinate curriculum assessment and course design activities.
• Support curriculum development and trainer credentialing efforts.
