Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated in Charlotte, NC seeks a Chief / Lead Data Center Engineer to oversee critical facilities operations, including electrical, mechanical, and life-safety systems across data centers.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in a technical, critical environment with the appropriate licenses and demonstrated communication skills for collaboration with internal and external teams. The role is on-site in Charlotte, with no visa sponsorship provided.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in a technical, critical environment operation
• Ability to interpret design and construction documents for critical sites
• Experience operating Diesel Generators, UPS, ATS, switchgear and protective relays

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems for critical facilities
• Interpret and update drawings in collaboration with CRE D&C or project management
• Provide 24/7 availability and rapid response to service emergencies

Chief / Lead Data Center Engineer Qualifications:

• Desired AAS in an engineering or technical area; High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Desired 10 years (+) related work experience, in a technical, critical environment operation.
• Required: Operating Engineer or other applicable licenses and Universal CFC’s license.
• Desired: SMA, FMA, RPA, or equivalent.
• Ability to understand and interpret various design and construction documents relating to critical sites, spaces and systems. Work with CRE D&C or project management to update drawings as required.
• Ability to operate, maintain and trouble shoot: Diesel Generator systems, Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS), Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), electrical switchgear, breakers, and protective relays.
• Proficient in basic computer applications and software such as MS Office and E-mail.
• A solid grasp of mathematics, the principles of physics and chemistry as they related to facilities management and engineering operations.
• Demonstrated verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate with internal and external customers.
• Ability to self perform the repair, maintenance and service required for continuous operation of all building infrastructure.
• a. Electrical (UPS, ATS, SEP, STS and PDU), generators, generator controls, fuel systems, switch gear, transfer gear and paralleling gear, lighting, energy conservation, relites.
• b. Mechanical (Boilers, Chillers, Pumps, Cooling Towers, Water treatment, AHU’s, CRAC, plumbing)
• c. Fire / Life safety, suppression systems (dry & wet pipe), Gaseous, EWFD, V-EWFD (VESDA).
• d. Temperature controls systems, BMS, DDC, CMMS, Pneumatics.
• e. Construction (painting, doors, locks, wall and ceiling,).
• f. Digital systems (fire alarm, duress, card access, radionics, CCTV).
• g. Excludes major OEM tear down maintenance.
• Experience in working on energized equipment (hot work);
• Ability to maintain resilience under duress during service emergencies.
• 24/7 Availability via various schedules
