Sonesta International Hotels Corporation is seeking a Chief Engineer to assist the Director of Engineering in supervising the maintenance and repairs of hotel systems. You will coordinate preventative maintenance for guest rooms and public areas and ensure compliance with codes and safety standards.

Position Summary The Chief Engineer will assist the Director of Engineering in managing and supervising the implementation of all aspects of maintenance and repairs of the physical systems of the building and equipment. They will also assist in coordinating and supervising the preventative maintenance of guest rooms and public areas, along with ensuring compliance with company, local state and federal codes and regulations. In this role, the Chief Engineer is expected to help and assist in promoting and implementing property-wide strategies that will increase guest satisfaction, reduce employee turnover, maintain revenue and payroll budgets, meet and exceed productivity goals.
The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. and to move objects up to 100 lbs. The person in this role may be exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly. The person in this role may be carrying, lifting or pulling items weighing up to 50lbs and pushing and / or pulling approximately 200lbs. The person in this role will be frequently standing up, bending, climbing, kneeling and moving about the hotel. Perform work inside and outside (sometimes in rain, cold and heat). Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate except in mechanical areas and when using certain equipment. When necessary, protective equipment and clothing will be required.
Must be flexible to work variable days of the week to include weekends and holidays. Must be flexible to work variable shifts such as days, mid-shifts (and if needed nights and overnights).
High school diploma or equivalent required; 2-year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or related major preferred. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the engineering and maintenance or related professional area; technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing and supervisory experience. Previous experience in a hotel property or service industry preferable. General knowledge of qualified trade such as HVAC, electrician or plumber, carpentry is desirable.
A candidate for this position must possess the following applicable knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate and provide applicable examples to support his/her competency. Must be skilled in HVAC, electrical, carpentry, drywalling, painting, plumbing and roofing. Must be Knowledgeable of local, state and federal regulations and safety standards. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Strong supervisory and leadership skills. Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
