Job summary

United States Cold Storage Inc. seeks a skilled Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the operation of refrigeration systems, facility infrastructure, and grounds.

You will lead maintenance personnel, schedule projects, and enforce safety and regulatory compliance within a fast-paced cold-storage environment. On-call 24/7/365, you will participate in the Emergency Response Team and collaborate with facility management, vendors, and operations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years in maintenance and operation of industrial refrigeration systems, including 2 years in a senior role.
  • Strong knowledge of federal/state regulatory programs (OSHA PSM, EPA RMP).
  • Experience with public refrigerated warehouses (PRW) and ammonia systems.
  • Knowledge of material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, battery chargers).
  • Ability to read blueprints and P&IDs; familiarity with controls and asset management systems.

Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the facilities refrigeration systems, material handling equipment, and maintain all aspects offacility infrastructure and grounds

Train and Manage daily tasks of maintenance personnel

Schedule and manage facility projects

Train allemployees in various safety and regulatory compliance topics.

Must be able to be on call 24/7/365

Participate on an Emergency Response Team.

Establish and maintain a high level of professionalism that supports collaboration and problem solving while building strong working relationships with various stakeholders including facility management, subordinates, and vendors .

Supervise contractors and approval of contractor bills for payment.

What We Are Looking For:
The ideal candidate will have or be able to complete the below qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • RETA Certified Recommended
  • Must pass Emergency Response Physical. (Lung Capacity and Auditory Testing are conducted annually)

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in maintenance and operation of industrial refrigeration systems including 2 years in a senior position.
  • Strong knowledge in federal and state regulatory compliance programs including but not limited to OSHA Process Safety Management and EPA Risk Management Programs.
  • Working knowledge of the public refrigerated warehouse (PRW) industry.
  • Working knowledge of industrial refrigeration systems (e.g. anhydrous ammonia)
  • Working knowledge of the functions of various material handling equipment (e.g. forklifts, pallet jacks, lead acid batteries, battery chargers, etc.).
  • Knowledge of capital and major repair budgeting
  • Ability to read and understand blue prints and P&IDs.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration control systems, microprocessors, and asset management systems (e.g. Infor EAM).
  • Knowledge of mechanics and mechanical skills.

Bend and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly

Lift up to 70lbs occasionally with assistance

Work in a temperature range from +50°F to -30°F with moderate noise levels.

Be able to speak and hear for safety and productivity

Use scanners, tablets, radio, phones, and other warehouse machinery

Ability to lift overhead

Ability to work overtime is an essential part of this position due to demand

Drive a registered motor vehicle to satisfy daily requirements

Have acceptable and / or correctable vision

Personal interaction and communication required to and from other people is extremely high

Good arithmetic and reading skills

Understand and follow verbal instruction, written instruction and company policies

A self-starter that can work independently and coordinate with others

Work in a fast pace environment with the ability to manage stress and productivity guidelines

Maintain a professional demeanor in appearance and communications at all times.

Participate in staff and/or customer meetings as required.

Take initiative to prevent non-conformities related to product, process, and quality systems.

Identify and report any issues related to product, processes, and/or quality.

Propose and implement solutions through appropriate channels.

Ensure solutions are effectively implemented.

Follow posted security procedures at all times while in the building.

Participate in safety and educational training programs.
