Job summary

RiseMe seeks a Data Center Chief Engineer to maintain and manage all mechanical, electrical and IT systems across the facility footprint. You will lead maintenance programs, draft SOPs and SOPs, and coordinate with vendors and internal teams to ensure continuous uptime.

You will oversee budgets, project plans, and change management while mentoring staff and advancing best practices for critical infrastructure and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a Data Center environment.
• Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical systems, Fire/Life safety, and control systems.
• EPA Section 608 Technician Certification - Universal Type is highly desired.
• Experience supervising others and managing projects.

Job description

Position Summary

The Data Center Chief Engineer provides maintenance support and management for the assigned Data Centers. Maintains all mechanical, electrical, and IT systems in the facilities. Provides general project management direction over all data center facility repairs and change/ install/ expansion efforts. Enthusiastic about learning new systems, openness to improving upon existing practices, and have a goal-oriented mindset.

The Data Center Chief Engineer reports directly to the Facility Manager.

Essential Job Functions

1. Maintain 100% uptime in Colocation data center critical facility.
2. Draft and Maintain Standard Maintenance Requirements (SMRs) and periodicities each datacenter, building, or campus based on local and other code requirements, OEM recommendations, and Industry “Best Practices.”

1. Ensures operating parameters and SMR processes, procedures, and frequencies are completed as prescribed.
2. Responsible for efficiency and maintaining reliability of all mechanical systems.

1. Contribute to creating tracking and maintaining operational budget for facility.
2. Estimate time and materials needed to complete repairs and new projects.
3. Assist in the change management process including maintaining associated documentation.
4. Establish maintenance contracts with vendors as necessary for performance of all required maintenance.
5. Directs, oversees, and inspects the work performed by outside contractors.
6. Responsible for working within H5 teams, creating project plans and budgets for internal projects and presentation to management.
7. Draft and Maintain Method of Procedures (MOPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs) governing preventative maintenance of critical equipment.
8. ICW associated site Facility Manager, LeadRoot Cause Analysis (RCAs) efforts for applicable problems and malfunctions involving critical infrastructure. Including determining details/timeline of the incident, all contributing factors, developing and tracking all associated corrective actions and process improvements associated with event.
9. Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
10. ICW site Facility Managers, Responsible for managing maintenance work order and asset tracking software, including uploading new work orders and processes as required.
11. Write and maintain operational procedures and standards for all critical infrastructure.
12. Train staff on all critical infrastructure and emergency operating procedures
13. Responsible for building management system control and coordinating efforts with controls contractors.
14. Communicate complex technical information to multiple people with various levels of technical knowledge.
15. Best efforts to be available via phone for off hours emergencies that require technical assistance.
16. Risk analysis and creation of scopes of work related to preventative maintenance and resolution needs on building and facility equipment.
17. Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) planning and tracking to assess all possible risk to the facility.
18. LCD capacity monitoring input to track how much cooling, power, and space is available for future use.
19. Communicate to visitors, vendors, contractors, customers, and management daily as required.

Qualifications

Education:

1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED), bachelor’s degree and/or professional/technical certification in related field strongly preferred.

Experience:

1. Comprehensive knowledge of industrial HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical systems, Fire/Life safety systems, and control systems with a heavy emphasis on mechanical. EPA Section 608 Technician Certification - Universal Type is highly desired.

1. 5 years of experience in a Data Center environment.
2. 10 years’ experience related to building management.

1. 5 years’ experience with building automation systems.
2. Experience in supervising others and managing projects.

Skills and Abilities

1. Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift / carry heavy loads of 50 lbs.
2. Above average skills with Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel, and Word.
3. Able to read complex building drawings and schematics.
4. Able to evaluate the importance and urgency of projects based on cost, risk, safety, etc.
5. High level interpersonal communication skills.
6. Decisions made with understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines.
