Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center are seeking a physician to serve as Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine in Newark, NJ. The role includes leading clinical activities, resident education, and scholarly work within a major teaching affiliate of Rutgers University.

The chair will oversee policy development to enhance quality and safety while growing the department and supporting academic actions at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.

Qualifications

• Strong clinical leadership with a track record of quality and safety improvements.
• Commitment to academic excellence including resident education and research.
• Minimum 5 years of academic leadership experience.
• NJ medical licensure or eligibility.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and clinical quality focus.
• Preferred academic clinical background.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Emergency Medicine Department and oversee clinical activities.
• Educate, supervise, and mentor residents within the residency program.
• Develop policies to improve quality and safety and drive academic actions.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and Rutgers affiliation.
