Overview: The Chief Education Officer is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, providing strategic direction and visionary leadership for the York JCC’s educational and enrichment programs, including Early Childhood Education, School-Age Care, Summer Camp, and Parent & Family Education services. This role oversees multiple departments, supervises and mentors program directors and staff, and represents the JCC within the community and professional networks. The Chief Education Officer is responsible for advancing the organization’s mission through high-quality, inclusive, and innovative programming that supports the evolving needs of children and families.
General Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership to the senior education team, establishing and maintaining a high-level vision that aligns with the mission and goals of the York JCC.
- Serve as a key advisor and collaborator to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team, contributing to cross-departmental strategy and decision-making.
- Oversee and support department directors in implementing and continuously improving educational programs, ensuring compliance with Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards, DHS, STARS, PKC, NAEYC, and CACFP regulations.
- Develop strong communication skills and build exceptional relationships within the organization and community.
- Collaborate with leadership and educational staff to develop and deliver innovative, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate curricula across all educational programs, including Early Childhood Education and School-Age Care.
- Stay informed about current research and best practices in PA Early Learning Standards, STARS, NAEYC, Conscious Discipline, and other curriculum development areas.
- Support the ECE team with student evaluations (such as Teaching Strategies or other assessments) and assist in reviewing and reporting results to families and PA agencies.
- Lead the ECE department with energy to foster collaboration and effective communication.
- Develop long-range plans for educational development.
- Manage and implement budgets across all areas of responsibility.
- Maintain a personal and professional development plan for continuous quality improvement.
- Promote the JCC and its programs through active participation in local, statewide, and national educational conferences and activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education or a related field; Master’s Degree and/or 30+ credits in ECE preferred.
- 5-8 years of progressive experience in early childhood services.
- Strong understanding of child development.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- High energy and enthusiasm.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, proficiency in technology.
- Ability to work well with families, staff, children, and community members, fostering a team environment.
- Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification.
- Clear background checks and clearances (PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal, Sex Offender Registry, FBI).
- Health screening with TB test.
- Ability to lift at least 20 pounds.
