Job summary

Phoenix Business Journal is seeking its Editor-in-Chief, the top newsroom leader responsible for content strategy and quality across all platforms. The EIC will drive audience loyalty and growth through local business coverage with a digital-first focus.

The role reports to senior executives, mentoring the newsroom staff, and shaping reporting decisions while expanding into new markets and products. A dynamic, reader-focused leader is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5–7 years of management and/or team leadership experience.
• Daily, and preferably, weekly print experience for a business news operation.
• Experience working in an online news environment.
• Beat reporter experience.
• Inspiring, yet diplomatic and innovative.

Responsibilities

• Create content and product vision for print and digital platforms.
• Drive staff development and provide hands-on editing and guidance on coverage decisions with a digital-first mindset.
• Lead reporting staff and collaborate with leadership to grow print, digital and event audiences.
• Engage with readers and manage cross-departmental initiatives to extend the brand.
