The State of Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development seeks an Executive Economic Development Administrator to lead the agency’s Economic Development Division. The role oversees operations, policy alignment, and performance metrics while shaping strategic initiatives across industries.

The position emphasizes staff supervision, program development, stakeholder engagement, and effective representation of the department in public and industry forums.

Qualifications

• Ten (10) years of professional experience in economic development
• Three (3) years of the General Experience in an economic development administrative capacity
• Substitutions: 15 semester hours = 1/2 year; Master’s may substitute for one additional year of General Experience

Responsibilities

• Administers staff and operations of the Division of Economic Development
• Develops, implements and evaluates division policies, goals and objectives
• Designs and develops division programs and activities
• Implements new procedures and procedural revisions
• Determines staffing levels and directs management of staff
• Leads performance review standards for division staff
• Maintains contacts with internal and external stakeholders affecting policy or programs
• Executes strategies for economic development across industries and sectors
• Analyzes economic development metrics to inform recruitment and expansion strategies
• Cultivates relationships with business leaders and organizations
• Negotiates large and complex economic development transactions
• Develops strategies for conducting and closing economic development initiatives
