Job summary

United Way of Greater Newark (UWGN) seeks a Chief Development Officer to lead fundraising strategy and donor engagement in a hybrid Newark, NJ environment. The CDO will report to the CEO, grow major gifts, and scale a comprehensive development program across individuals, foundations, and corporate partners.

The role requires a high-energy leader who can drive a data-driven, donor-centric culture, collaborate with executives, and oversee events, communications, and donor stewardship.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of development experience with proven fundraising results.
• Experience with individual giving, major donors, and corporate partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy and program.
• Lead donor lifecycles, stewardship, and recognition in partnership with leadership.
• Manage portfolio of donors and cultivate new opportunities.
• Supervise a three-person team and coordinate with marketing/events.
• Create donor collateral, proposals, and reports to tell UWGN's impact.
• Collaborate to align strategies across departments and campaigns.
