Job Title: Chief Development Officer, Head of Development, EVP of Development, Head of Renewables, Chief Renewables Officer

Comp: Base + Bonus + Significant equity component

PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE SIGNIFICANT PROVEN WIND OR SOLAR OR STORAGE DEVELOPMENT EXPERIENCE

Position Overview:

This person will play a critical leadership role, overseeing all aspects of the renewable energy (wind, solar, BESS) development business. This includes the project development process for utility-scale wind and solar and storage projects across the US. You would have 100% autonomy crafting and executing strategy for a very well-funded PE-backed portfolio business.

This position requires a highly experienced professional with hands-on expertise in every stage of project development, from site selection and permitting to financing and construction handover. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and skilled operator capable of building and managing high-performing teams while maintaining a deep focus on project execution and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all phases of the development lifecycle for utility-scale wind and solar projects, including site origination, permitting, interconnection, PPA/offtake agreements, and pre-construction.
  • Develop and execute the company’s project development strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and growth targets.
  • Oversee and guide the identification and evaluation of project sites, including land acquisition, environmental assessments, and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage and build relationships with landowners, government agencies, utilities, and other key stakeholders to facilitate project approvals and smooth execution.
  • Collaborate with finance teams to ensure projects are economically viable, supporting financial modeling, tax equity structures, and investment analysis.
  • Drive interconnection processes with transmission operators, ensuring compliance and timelines are met.
  • Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing development team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and policy changes to identify new opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Serve as a key representative of the company in high-level negotiations, industry events, and strategic partnerships.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience leading utility-scale wind and solar projects from inception to completion.
  • Comprehensive expertise in land acquisition, permitting, interconnection, PPA negotiations, and project financing.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and permitting for renewable energy projects.
  • Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and achieve project milestones.
