Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible fundraising and marketing experience in a nonprofit setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individuals, corporations, foundations, and other entities.
  • Demonstrated success in program development/design, proposal writing, and grant management.
  • Demonstrated success in special event fundraising.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and manage annual development plan.
  • Direct special event planning.
  • Ensure timely recognition of donors and volunteers.
  • Direct the agency’s marketing and public relations programs.
  • Direct the volunteer program and empower volunteer leaders to fundraise.
  • Generate new ideas to increase revenue and donors.
  • Report progress to leadership and board.
  • Build relationships with new donors and strengthen relationships with existing donors.

Summary

The primary purpose of the Chief Development Officer is to lead the development, marketing, volunteer, and communications activities of the organization in an effective manner.

Job Requirements
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible fundraising and marketing experience in a nonprofit setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individuals, corporations, foundations, and other entities
  • Demonstrated success in program development/design, proposal writing, and grant management
  • Demonstrated success in special event fundraising
  • Demonstrated ability to take primary responsibility for multiple projects and complete them successfully in a timely manner with limited supervision
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing development plans, program reporting and assessment
  • Proven experience with volunteer management
  • Marketing and communication experience with social media, newsletters, annual reports, email campaigns, websites, among others
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal, and networking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with donor database and special events management platforms
  • Availability for occasional early morning, evening, and weekend activities
  • Self-motivated and disciplined to set and achieve goalsPassion for the mission-driven work and ethical fundraising practices
Desired Qualifications
  • Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) credential
  • Knowledge of the community including community organizations and social service agencies
