Job description

Join #TeamAXO as the Chief Development Officer (CDO) for the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation. This position is becoming available due to a planned retirement. This fulltime, salaried position can be either remote-based or located in the Indianapolis, IN area.

The CDO provides strategic and operational leadership for the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation to support the educational and philanthropic priorities of Alpha Chi Omega. Responsibilities include all short-term and long-term fundraising strategies, management and development of the Foundation professional staff and achievement of fundraising and other goals for the Foundation.

Requirements

Success in the CDO role will be based upon:

  • Experience with donor relations, fundraising, strategic planning, project management, development plans, staff leadership and board relations.
  • Professional experience with and knowledge of operations for 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporations including endowments, annual fund, planned giving, major gifts programs, scholarships and grants.
  • Experience leading, motivating and developing a successful team of professionals to optimize the performance of the team and each individual contributor.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Minimum of 8 years of successful fundraising and management experience in educational, charitable or nonprofit organizations.
  • Strong leadership skills with proven track record of working with diverse and geographically dispersed staff and volunteers.
  • Demonstrated ability to make complex decisions, solve problems and shape strategies.
  • Strong conceptual, analytical, communications and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to independently manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of and ability to work with donor database and moves management system required. Familiarity with iMIS database would be a plus.
  • High level of energy, initiative and creativity.
  • Membership in a Greek-lettered social organization is strongly desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, communications or related field required. Graduate degree and/or Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) or similar technical certification preferred.
