Job summary

Title of Position

Chief Development Officer

Supervisor: Open Door Ministries CEO

Hours: Full Time Position; 40 hours/week

Salary: $65,479-$93,345 - opportunity to raise additional salary, generous benefits package

Sabbatical: Eligible upon approval

Required Meeting Attendance

• Church Attendance:
• Attend ODF or WCI 24 times in the first two years plus ongoing quarterly
• After the above, as a member of the Executive Staff, required to attend ODF quarterly

Job purpose

The primary responsibility of this position is leading the Development Team including events, communications, grants, key partners, key churches with a specific emphasis on cultivating new and existing major donors.

Duties and responsibilities

• Cultivate relationships with existing and prospective major donors (major focus of the first year)
• Personal and meaningful connections to encourage new donations
• Average 5 meetings/week
• Average 10 phone conversations/week
• Average 15 email communications/week
• Participate in ministry fairs and networking events to spread the word about Open Door
• Generate leads for new donors
• Write thank you notes and promptly thank donors for major gifts via texts, emails, calls, etc.
• Involved with Key Partner events at a high level
• Oversee the Development Staff to coordinate fundraising efforts.
• Oversees Event Coordinator (plans all annual fundraising events)
• Oversees Development Assistant as necessary
• Works with Grant Assessment Coordinator as the database specialist and as needed in other areas
• Oversees Communications Director (implements strategies for print and digital communications, marketing, branding and fundraising campaigns)
• Oversees Volunteer Coordinator/Urban Immersion Director – helps guide the process of engaging volunteers toward fundraising
• Supervise Nonprofit Management interns as needed
• Works alongside CEO & CFO
• Write monthly report to CEO
• Create and implement overall Development Plan for the fundraising year
• Oversee the end of the year campaign, including calling campaign, donor meetings, Colorado Gives Day, year-end communications, etc.
• Oversee Development budget
• Understand and train others to utilize donor database for all development needs
• Coordinate other funding opportunities and campaigns as they arise
• Meet monthly with the Executive Staff
• Meet weekly at first with CEO and then bi-weekly
• Meet with Development Team weekly
• Meet with Board Fundraising Committee quarterly

Qualifications

• 8+ years of non-profit fundraising experience with 3 years of one-on-one donor development experience
• OR
• 5+ years of one-on-one donor development experience
• Team Leadership experience
