An integral member of the senior leadership team, the CDO reports to the Executive Director, works closely with the Board of Directors, and leads a four-person development and communications team along with event planning, government relations, and public relations consultants. This role is in-office four days a week, based at 1 Smith Street (Brooklyn) and 1360 Garrison Avenue (South Bronx).

Key Responsibilities

  • Secure City Council, state discretionary, and federal funding, and build relationships with elected officials and agencies.
  • Lead capital fundraising for facility upgrades and new space alongside annual operating support.
  • Grow events so they reach new audiences and add revenue, rather than drawing on the same donors.

Visibility. Oversee communications, marketing, and media relations to raise HOPE's profile and position the Executive Director and senior staff as public voices.

Team and project leadership. Support, manage, assess, and develop a four-person team, identifying areas of need and growth as the organization evolves. Manage consultants and complex projects to deadline and budget.

Board and leadership partnership. Work closely with the Board of Directors, staffing the Development and Governance Committees, and equip board members, the Associate Board, and senior leaders to succeed as fundraisers and ambassadors.

Qualifications
  • A deep commitment to HOPE's mission and to economic mobility for New Yorkers facing barriers to employment
