Job summary

National Association of Community Health Centers seeks a Chief Development Officer to lead fundraising strategy and development operations in support of community health initiatives. The CDO will manage a development team, engage senior leaders, and drive multi‑year revenue growth through innovative fundraising plans and cross‑sector collaboration, with travel as required.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of fundraising experience with progressive responsibility, including strategic planning and partnerships.
• Proven ability to secure six- to seven-figure gifts from individuals, institutions, and corporations.
• Deep knowledge of all fundraising programs (individual giving, institutional giving, planned giving, digital giving, events, memberships).
• Strong adherence to fundraising ethics and best practices, with diversification strategy.
• Experience leading and coaching a development team; ability to collaborate across departments and with C‑level leaders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and fundraising strategy, including multi‑year plans and revenue diversification.
• Oversee development operations and a growing team of five; ensure accountability and performance metrics.
• Cultivate and solicit major gifts from high‑capacity donors, foundations, corporations, and government partners.
• Build strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to grow funding and impact.
• Represent the organization to donors, partners, and boards; travel as needed to cultivate relationships.
