The Montana Historical Society seeks an experienced, dynamic leader for the position of Public Relations and Development Officer. This position provides strategic and hands‑on leadership across three core functions: development, membership, and marketing/communications.

Serving as MTHS's chief development officer, this role personally leads major gift cultivation and fundraising strategy while overseeing membership growth and the organization's brand, public relations, and communications

Qualifications

• Experience leading development, membership, and marketing/communications functions.
• Strong fundraising and donor relations background.
• Strategic thinker who also executes hands‑on work.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor a team of four public relations and administrative staff, including hiring and performance management.
• Set team goals and conduct performance reviews.
• Manage development, membership, and public relations budgets.
• Execute elements of the agency's strategic plan related to Public Relations and Development, with measurement of performance.
