Job summary

The Executive Director of Cybersecurity and Privacy leads Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools’ efforts to protect digital systems and sensitive information. This onsite role in Charlotte, NC oversees cybersecurity program operations and data privacy, guiding policy, incident response, compliance, and day-to-day leadership of the cybersecurity staff.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of cybersecurity principles, frameworks, threats, and policy development.
• Experience overseeing enterprise IT infrastructure and IAM security controls.
• Vendor data-privacy reviews and ed-tech application vetting experience.
• Ability to supervise staff, manage a budget, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, supervise, and evaluate district cybersecurity programs and staff.
• Develop and maintain district-wide cybersecurity policies and procedures.
• Oversee incident response planning, execution, and reporting.
• Coordinate audits, vulnerability assessments, and compliance reviews.
• Collaborate on strategic planning, policy development, and risk analysis.
• Oversee identity and access management across district platforms.
• Manage budget and provide strategic direction for the cybersecurity office.
• Ensure adherence to laws, privacy standards, and board policies.
