Minimum Requirements:
- Hold a Black Seal License (Low Pressure).
- Commercial air conditioning experience required, refrigeration license (Blue Seal) preferred.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent training experience.
- Have supervisory ability.
- Have a minimum of three (3) years experience in plant operation and maintenance: cleaning methods and procedures; repairs; security; heating and ventilation.
- Have demonstrated knowledge of fire/safety laws.
- Hold and maintain a valid driver's license with no serious violations.
- Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.
- Exhibit a personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
- Provide evidence that a criminal record history check has been conducted and clearance has been given by the Department of Education.
- During the initial six-month period, provide a sworn statement that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person's offense in accordance with 18A:6-7.1.
- Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities, with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6:3-4A.4.
- Pass the state required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test as required.
- Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
Responsibilities:
- Help in the selection, assignment, scheduling, and training of members of the custodial staff.
- Plan and oversee all maintenance and repair work, maintaining a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.
- Monitor the time records of all custodial employees in the school and certifies them for salary payments.
- Maintain an inventory and recommend purchase of suitable supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Evaluate the performance of the custodial staff on a regular basis.
- Strive constantly to promote the safety, health, and comfort of the students and employees.
- Perform related duties as required.
- Use computers and/or electronic equipment to fulfill job functions.
- Display the highest ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies.
- Participate in appropriate in-service and workshop programs and attend any required meetings.
- Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties, and use discretion when sharing any information within legal confines.
- Adhere to federal statutes and regulations, New Jersey school law, construction codes, State Board of Education rules and regulations, education policies and procedures, and contractual obligations.
- Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Busing not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.
