Job description

Join to apply for the Chief CT Technologist - West Region role at Atlantic Medical Imaging.

AMI has an exciting leadership opportunity available for CT Technologists: Regional Chief CT Technologist. This management position will focus on the oversight of CT clinical operations in the West region of offices, including Vineland, Bridgeton, Woolwich, Tomlin/Mullica Hill, Sicklerville, and Deptford.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages daily CT operations throughout the practice. Develops and maintains the monthly CT schedule and makes certain that there is proper staffing in the case of callouts, working with the Senior Chief Technologist and other Regional Chief Technologists. Ensures that necessary quality control functions are performed as required in every office and that QC books are maintained. Reports any concerns directly to the Senior Chief CT Technologist.
  • Responsible for submitting and maintaining ACR certification.
  • Provides orientation for new staff members either directly or through other staff members. Follows up on a regular basis to ascertain the new staff member’s progress and takes remedial action if needed.
  • Works with the management team on installation of new equipment and ensures new sites, rooms, and equipment are ready for clinical use.
  • Schedules applications on new equipment.
  • Takes corrective action in a timely manner to address employee performance issues, keeping the management team informed of status.
  • Performs all computerized axial tomography examinations per departmental policies, as scheduled and upon demand. Performs additional functions including image reconstruction, archiving, filming and other software functions as directed by the Radiologist or as per standard departmental policy.
  • Works as a scanning technologist minimum of 1 day per week or more to cover departmental needs.
  • Reviews all patients’ requests for diagnostic procedures as to designated anatomical part and clinical history. Instructs patients regarding procedures. Questions all female patients of childbearing age regarding pregnancy and documents. Arranges, attaches and adjusts immobilization and supportive devices to obtain the precise position. Prevents patients’ movements and alleviates discomfort. Prepares each patient requiring IV administration of contrast media as per departmental policy. Advises radiologists when ready for actual administration of contrast media and/or medications. Maintains surveillance of all patients undergoing contrast injections providing updates to the radiologist. Respects and protects patient privacy at all times.
  • Operates, at a high level of technical skill and proficiency, the computerized tomography unit including software and hardware to assure optimum scanning techniques, equipment utilization and scanning times.
  • As per departmental policy, performs all quality control testing, equipment calibrations, warm up and shut down procedures. Provides appropriate documentation. Ensures that required maintenance, service or repair work is completed on equipment in a timely manner.
  • Maintains and documents all required forms, worksheets, log books, including but not limited to requisitions, consent forms, IV therapy worksheets, patient daily log book, charge corrections and equipment error/repair log. Works with the Office Administrators to order non-stock items related to CT Technology on a timely basis.
  • Participates in all scheduled departmental meetings, training sessions and continuing education programs as required. Becomes familiar with and prepares to respond to all departmental codes to ensure the safety of patients, employees, visitors and physical plant.
  • Consistently applies departmental policies and procedures, updating and maintaining knowledge base as needed. Participates in all scheduled departmental training sessions and continuing education programs as required.
  • Performs other duties as required and assigned.

The work schedule includes Monday-Friday, days and evenings, with weekend availability. Schedules are subject to change based on business and department needs. The individual assuming this role will balance a clinical scanning schedule along with administrative responsibilities.

Eligible and qualified candidates are experienced CT Technologists with a current and valid ARRT CT registry and NJ DEP X-ray License. In lieu of prior supervisory experience, candidates must demonstrate leadership potential. Credentials and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be maintained in accordance with AMI policy.
