Job summary

IMRF seeks a Chief Legal Officer to direct the Legal Department and oversee procurement and employer compliance for the Fund. The role requires Illinois law licensure, a JD, a BA/BS, and management experience in public pensions.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in Illinois.
• Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS).
• JD from accredited law school.
• Public pension fund management experience strongly preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Experience with legislative process.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage the Legal Department and procurement/employer compliance functions.
• Develop policy and advise staff and Board on Illinois Pension Code and related laws.
• Coordinate litigation and contract reviews; oversee procurement.
• Represent IMRF to other state public retirement systems.
• Oversee compliance programs including Open Meetings Act.
