Harley-Davidson Motor Company seeks a Chief Counsel, Compliance, to lead a global integrity program, reporting to the Chief Legal, Compliance & Corporate Affairs Officer. This role oversees trade compliance, cyber and privacy, AI governance, records management, and legal operations from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

You will drive enterprise-wide risk management, partner with IT and business units, manage outside counsel, implement matter workflows, and mentor the compliance and legal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school required.
• Licensed to practice law in the United States, in good standing with a State bar, and ability to become a member of the Wisconsin State bar.

• Oversee sanctions and export-controls compliance; partner on cyber and privacy requirements; oversee incident response.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Chief Legal, Compliance & Corporate Affairs Officer, the Chief Counsel, Compliance, leads a global integrated compliance program, including trade compliance; sets strategic direction for the enterprise compliance function; and fosters a culture of integrity and accountability. This position also oversees cyber and privacy, AI governance, sustainability, records management, and legal operations. The Chief Counsel, Compliance, serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, the Board, and business leaders in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead the global integrated compliance function aligned to enterprise risk priorities.
• Oversee sanctions and export-controls compliance.
• Partner with the Chief Information Security Officer to ensure cyber-related legal and regulatory compliance and oversee incident response.
• Lead the global data privacy function and AI governance.
• Responsible for enterprise records retention schedules, legal hold processes, and information governance policies in coordination with IT and business units.
• Oversee legal operations, including department-technology implementation, outside-counsel management, matter management/e-billing systems, and budgeting process.
• Drive process improvement, metrics, and efficiency initiatives across the legal and compliance functions.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 12 years' related experience and 5 years of management experience.

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
