The primary function of this position is to plan, manage, execute, direct, and supervise the activities of company inspectors, contractors, municipal, transit authority, or private contractors. These activities involve various construction projects within company facilities, generating stations, substations, or within franchised areas such as public roadways, highways, or bridges. The role ensures all work complies with applicable company specifications, standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Additionally, Construction Inspectors are responsible for maintaining and protecting the integrity of company facilities during construction projects and ensuring all work is completed within the scheduled time and budget.
Responsibilities
- Core Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections to ensure protection, support, and maintenance of all company facilities according to engineering designs, specifications, procedures, and codes across all boroughs.
- Implement all code 753 requirements on applicable jobs.
- Conduct Job Briefings, Job Site Safety Exchanges (JSSE), Safety Stand-downs, and relevant OJTs with CE field personnel or contractors as applicable.
- Ensure contractors' means and methods conform to their HASP and comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including NYC permits and guidelines, while minimizing community quality of life issues.
- Supervise Construction Representatives and inspectors engaged in contract administration and inspections, focusing on CAR/NOV inspections and casting regrades.
- Respond as incident commander during damages, environmental, or safety incidents involving construction projects.
- Respond to company-wide events such as storms, system outages, or heat alerts.
- Investigate damages caused by contractors and prepare reports accordingly.
- Report contractor performance through the contractor oversight system (COS) and document incidents via Infraction Reports and Action Lines, ensuring closure per corrective action plans.
- Process all project schedule updates, coordinate with various departments to resolve technical or contractual issues.
- Perform supervisory duties during nights, overtime, and weekends as required.
- Maintain effective communication with all field inspectors, project specialists, managers, and external agencies.
- Enforce operational and procedural changes among peers and direct reports.
- Maintain necessary certifications and qualifications, including driver licenses, NY State Project Monitor Certification, respirator and asbestos qualifications, gas operator, and work permits.

Qualifications
- Required Education / Experience
- High School Diploma / GED with 5 years of field construction experience, or
- Associate's Degree with 4 years of field construction experience.
- Preferred Education / Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business with 2 years of field construction experience.
