Role Description

The Chief Compliance Officer is a full-time, hybrid role based in Chicago, IL, with flexibility for partial work from home. This role oversees the design, implementation, and ongoing improvement of the company's compliance program, including policies, procedures, and controls related to regulatory requirements and ethical standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring compliance risks, conducting internal reviews, advising leadership on regulatory developments, and ensuring that vendor partnerships and product offerings align with applicable laws and industry guidelines. The Chief Compliance Officer collaborates closely with finance, operations, and product teams to integrate compliance into business processes, leads compliance training, and prepares reports for executive leadership and stakeholders. This role also manages incident response and remediation efforts, and drives a culture of accountability and transparency across the organization.

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in Compliance Management and Regulatory Compliance, with experience building and leading organization-wide compliance programs.
• Advanced Analytical Skills to evaluate risk, interpret regulations, and translate complex requirements into practical business processes.
• Excellent Communication skills, including the ability to influence stakeholders, draft clear policies, and present findings to executive leadership.
• Solid understanding of Finance, particularly as it relates to vendor contracts, financial controls, and regulatory reporting.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a compliance, legal, or risk management role, preferably within fintech, professional services, or SaaS.
• Bachelor's degree in law, business, finance, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certification (e.g., CCEP, CRCM, CAMS) is an advantage.
• Proven ability to work in a hybrid environment, manage cross-functional initiatives, and adapt to a fast-paced, founder-focused culture.
