Job summary

Brown University in Providence is seeking a Senior Director of College Admission to lead the Office of College Admission, overseeing operations, staff development, and the recruitment, selection, and enrollment of a diverse student body. The role partners with the Dean to ensure equitable review processes and data-driven decision making.

You will supervise multiple teams, set portfolios, monitor progress, and coordinate committee reviews, while representing Brown in university leadership

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in a relevant field.
• 12+ years of progressive responsibility in highly selective college admissions.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Understanding of national and international demographic trends affecting the undergraduate admission applicant pool.
• Familiar with database systems and data analysis.
• Ability to provide cross-functional leadership and help create, implement, and maintain a comprehensive vision for undergraduate admissions operations.
• Evidence of creative strategic thinking, demonstrated experience in personnel and financial management.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strong commitment to promoting institutional diversity.
• Expert knowledge of policies, practices and laws governing admissions, student records, and related student information systems.
• Proven ability to manage large teams of professional staff.
• Demonstrated ability to mobilize others to achieve shared results.
• Record of innovation and creative problem solving, and strategic thinking and planning.
• Strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills.
• Aptitude for utilizing technology and effectively managing complex budgets.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the Office of College Admission in partnership with the Dean of Undergraduate Admission.
• Supervise managers and teams of admissions officers to recruit, select, and enroll diverse classes.
• Hire, onboard, and develop staff to ensure equitable review of applications and smooth admissions processes.
• Assign reading portfolios and targets to admissions officers; monitor progress.
• Communicate goals, progress, and issues with staff; communicate with applicants about information and deadlines.
• Coordinate committee meetings for feedback and final admissions decisions.
• Represent the Office of College Admission on University leadership bodies; may stand in for the Dean as needed.
