Job summary

DRMP is seeking a Chief Bridge Engineer in Orlando to lead our expanding structures practice, manage complex DOT projects, mentor engineers, and set the standard for bridge design across the Southeast.

You will guide technical excellence, drive business development, and oversee delivery from concept to construction, shaping the future of our transportation structures practice.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (ABET-accredited).
  • Licensed PE (PE/SE in Florida preferred; ability to obtain Florida registration required).
  • 15+ years post-registration structural engineering experience.
  • 20+ years bridge design and plans production experience (concrete, steel, and other transportation structures).
  • Deep expertise with bridge design software (FB Multi-Pier, Leap Bridge, CSi, STAAD, FDOT tools, etc.).
  • Proficiency in OpenBridge Modeler, MicroStation, GEOPAK, AutoCAD, or similar CADD platforms.
  • Mastery of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and FDOT standards.
  • Proven ability to mentor junior staff and lead multidisciplinary bridge projects.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Project Manager, Engineer of Record, or Design Lead on multi-disciplined transportation projects.
  • Direct bridge design, structural calculations, plans preparation, and specifications. Perform QA/QC.
  • Lead marketing efforts for major bridge pursuits, including FDOT Letters of Response, client presentations, and technical interviews.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers; build a high-performing team.
  • Lead design alternatives investigations, respond to RFIs, review shop drawings, and provide construction-phase problem-solving.

The Opportunity

DRMP is a fast-growing transportation engineering firm with deep expertise in bridge design, infrastructure rehabilitation, and structural solutions. We're expanding our structures practice, and we need a Chief Bridge Engineer who can lead technical excellence, grow project pursuits, and develop the next generation of structural engineers.

What you will lead:

Lead Complex Bridge & Structures Projects

  • Serve as Project Manager, Engineer of Record, or Design Lead on multi-disciplined transportation projects.
  • Work with conventional and alternative delivery methods.
  • Make critical technical decisions that shape project success.

Set Technical Standards & Perform QA/QC

  • Direct all aspects of bridge design, structural calculations, plans preparation, and specifications. Perform rigorous technical reviews ensuring designs meet AASHTO LRFD standards, FDOT criteria, and DRMP's high standards.

Drive Business Development & Marketing

  • Lead marketing efforts for major bridge pursuits, including FDOT Letters of Response, client presentations, and technical interviews.
  • Help win new work that elevates DRMP's reputation.

Mentor & Develop High-Performing Engineers

  • Train junior and mid-level engineers in design, analysis, and technical leadership.
  • Build a team of exceptional structural professionals.
  • Shape the future of the practice through mentorship.

Support Project Delivery Throughout All Phases

  • Lead design alternatives investigations, respond to RFIs, review shop drawings, and provide construction-phase problem-solving.

What you bring:

  • 3D modeling with OpenBridge Modeler
  • FDOT project experience
