Job summary

LiquidPiston seeks a Chief Engineer, Aerospace to lead the technical strategy for propulsion systems across advanced aerospace programs. The role coordinates mechanical, electrical, controls, power systems, and manufacturing teams to deliver innovative engines and integration with flight controls.

Based onsite in Bloomfield, CT with a planned relocation to Suffield, CT in 2026, this executive role drives concept to production while aligning engineering with business goals and customer needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (Master’s or PhD preferred).
• 15+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience in aerospace/propulsion.
• Experience with eVTOL, hybrid‑electric aircraft, or UAV propulsion.
• Strong systems engineering, design verification, and flight testing knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for design, development, integration, and commercialization of advanced propulsion technologies.
• Direct multidisciplinary teams across mechanical, electrical, controls, power systems, manufacturing, and testing.
• Define system requirements, roadmaps and milestones for propulsion solutions.
• Oversee lifecycle from concept through prototyping, validation, certification, manufacturing, and field deployment.
• Collaborate with leadership and customers to meet performance, regulatory and program objectives.
