Job summary

Samaritan House is seeking a tenured Vice President of Advancement to lead development, communications, marketing and public relations. You will secure resources, build donor relationships, and expand the organization’s reach.

The role requires authentic relationship-building, high emotional intelligence, and executive leadership within Samaritan House’s team. The VP will manage major gifts, grants, and campaigns, guiding a sizable Advancement Team and reporting to the CEO and Board as part of

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required. Advanced degree or CFRE preferred.
• Minimum ten years of progressively challenging and successful fundraising, communications and
• Familiarity with nonprofit structures and community-based services; excellent written and verbal communication; experience in fundraising and marketing communications.
• Strong project and budget management skills; ability to lead diverse teams and work with executive leadership.

Responsibilities

• Develop a detailed annual Advancement Plan with support from team leaders and provide strategic direction for all advancement activities.
• Lead the 155-person Advancement Team; directly supervising 5 team members; recruit, train and develop department staff.
• Engage in donor and funder cultivation, stewardship and major gifts; build relationships with corporations and foundations.
• Oversee marketing and communications, and ensure compliance with fundraising laws and ethical standards.
• Collaborate with Board and Executive Leadership to drive fundraising strategy and organizational growth.
