Job summary

The City of Seattle seeks an Executive Director of Administration to lead a $22 million division and oversee four managers and 50 staff. The role directs fiscal, procurement, contracts, and data center operations with strategic oversight across administrative services.

As a senior leader, you will report to the Chief Operating Officer, shape policy, and partner with City departments to align administration with city-wide standards and goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, organizational management or related field, or equivalent background.
• Five+ years of progressively responsible management in public administration including procurement, financial management, grant management, facilities operations.
• Experience with represented employees and/or labor relations groups.
• Five years supervising administrative staff and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Monitor department budgets and initiate purchasing contracts with major vendors.
• Conduct spending audits and develop business plans.
• Analyze financial data and ensure legal and policy compliance.
• Supervise unit managers and improve management systems for efficiency and accountability.
• Provide strategic leadership and policy recommendations as a Leadership Team member.
• Collaborate with other city departments and finance staff on major programs and policies.
• Support enterprise-wide systems, ERP, HRIS, and reporting processes.
• Foster ethical practices and coordinate with stakeholders and external vendors.
