Bay Atlantic University seeks a Chief Academic Officer (CAO) to provide strategic leadership in academic and compliance programs. The CAO will oversee faculty hiring, develop academic policies, and ensure the effectiveness of educational programs. The ideal candidate will possess a master's degree with significant experience in higher education, demonstrating strong leadership and managerial skills in a multi-cultural environment.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Chief Academic Officer (CAO) provides leadership, vision, and strategic direction for all aspects of the University’s academic and compliance programs. This role is responsible for hiring faculty, developing academic rules and policies, evaluating the effectiveness of educational programs in all modes of delivery, and participating in academic and faculty councils/committees.The CAO is also responsible for all instructional planning and development, improvement of teaching and learning, management of licensure, accreditation activities, regulatory authorities, and compliance, and oversight of the assessment of student learning in the University’s programs.
The CAO will advise the President of Bay Atlantic University on academic. The CAO must have the ability to work collaboratively with all segments of the University, industry, and community to support effective programing and institutional growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the operations of the academic department.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Must have a master’s or another equivalent professional degree with progressive professional experience in a relevant area and a minimum of 5 years of experience teaching in higher education (Ph.D. preferred). Continuing contributions within the appropriate field of academic study.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of five years of work experience in an undergraduate and graduate-level academic environment. Experience as a faculty member in higher education institutions, managing and developing curriculum, leading academic accreditation/certification projects. A successful candidate is a strategic leader who understands the challenges in growing a young university, and who has knowledge of academic policies and procedures of universities in the US. Experience with budget planning and management is essential. Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, strive for innovation and creativity, especially when collaborating with multiple departments within the university, and exceptional customer service skills. Must have a demonstrated willingness and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and be highly organized and adaptable to change quickly. Must live in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area.
