Job summary

Komatsu’s Chicago Headquarters invites interns to gain hands-on exposure across functions like HR, corporate strategy, regional relations/sales, Digital Office, Finance, Legal, IT, Smart Construction, Marketing, Data Science, Aftermarket, and more. The 2027 internship focuses on Construction Equipment products, solutions, and sustainability goals.

Interns will participate in research, data analysis, and projects, work with leaders, and build cross-functional relationships.

Qualifications

• Must be at least in Junior standing at an accredited college/university.
• High level written and verbal communications skills.
• Flexibility and maturity to interact effectively with executives, associates at all levels, and across cultures.
• Ability to multi-task, manage multiple deadlines and work and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong motivation to make contributions to Komatsu and strong motivation to drive results.
• Has the ability to proactively engage in collaboration and possesses intellectual curiosity.
• Should be open to learning about capital goods / heavy equipment in the construction and mining industry.
• Should have interest in consulting, with any prior exposure (classroom setting, student organization, etc.) being a plus.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office specifically Excel, PowerPoint and other productivity tools.
• Must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support assigned corporate department projects and initiatives based on business needs and intern area of interest.
• Conduct research, analyze data, and summarize findings to help inform business decisions.
• Assist with reports, presentations, dashboards, communications, and other project deliverables.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and build relationships with employees, leaders, and fellow interns.
• Participate in meetings, training, networking events, and business overview sessions to gain exposure to Komatsu’s operations.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, share recommendations, and contribute to meaningful business outcomes.
