Job summary

Bob Bell Chevrolet is seeking an experienced Transmission Rebuild Technician to join our service team and handle diagnosing, rebuilding, and repairing automatic transmissions. GM/Chevrolet experience is strongly encouraged, with a proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced shop.

We offer substantial earning potential ($75,000–$200,000+ based on experience and production) and opportunities for career progression across our Baltimore-area dealerships.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional automotive technician experience
• Hands-on transmission rebuilding and overhauls
• GM/Chevrolet transmission experience preferred
• GM-certified technicians and GM ASEP graduates encouraged to apply
• Strong diagnostic, mechanical, and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to use electronic diagnostic equipment and specialized transmission tools
• Maryland State Inspection License a plus
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, disassemble, inspect, rebuild, and repair automatic transmissions.
• Identify transmission problems and determine the necessary repairs or rebuild procedures.
• Perform transmission overhauls, component replacement, and related drivetrain repairs.
• Follow GM/Chevrolet manufacturer specifications, technical procedures, and quality standards.
• Use advanced diagnostic equipment and specialized tools to troubleshoot transmission concerns.
• Accurately complete repair orders with attention to detail and efficiency.
• Communicate with Service Advisors regarding diagnostic findings, recommended repairs, and estimated completion times.
• Perform quality checks and road tests to verify proper transmission operation and repair quality.
• Complete warranty repairs and documentation in accordance with manufacturer requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
