Join to apply for the Chesterton - Bus Driver (School Year) role at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana

Hours Required: 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday, during the school year.
Location: Duneland Boys and Girls Club - 521 W. 1100 N., Chesterton, IN 46304

Must have a current Class B CDL with air brake and passenger endorsements. Responsibilities include transporting members to and from schools, communicating about bus conditions, and adhering to maintenance schedules. Additional duties involve reporting, route tracking, and maintaining safety and cleanliness of buses.

Responsibilities include:
  • Observing traffic laws and safety regulations
  • Completing pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Planning routes and transporting youth and staff
  • Adhering to schedules and routes
  • Maintaining communication with staff and members
  • Ensuring safety and a healthy environment
  • Keeping buses clean and fueled
  • Operating communication equipment and conducting evacuation drills
  • Reporting accidents and incidents
  • Participating in drug/alcohol testing and completing reports
  • Maintaining professional appearance and confidentiality
Knowledge/Skills Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid CDL with necessary endorsements
  • DOT physical and medical certificate
  • At least 21 years old with one year of driving experience
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, and perform physical activities such as sitting, standing, walking, bending, and climbing. Exposure to various weather conditions and moderate to high noise levels.
