Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our outpatient infusion team in South Carolina. You will administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and biotherapy, perform IV/port access, and monitor patients, ensuring safe, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires SC RN license, BLS, EMR experience, and oncology infusion background; travel to four clinic locations and a 4-day per week schedule.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, compassionate, patient-centered care to outpatient infusion patients.
  • Assess patients before and during treatment, including vital signs, readiness, labs, and symptoms.
  • Review chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and biotherapy plans for accuracy.
  • Identify treatment-order discrepancies and communicate concerns with physicians and staff.
  • Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, supportive meds, injections.
  • Monitor for adverse reactions and treatment-related emergencies.
  • Document assessments, treatments, responses, adverse events, and communications in EMR.
  • Educate patients and families about treatments, side effects, and when to contact care team.
  • Perform IV/port access, phlebotomy, injections, and related procedures.
  • Maintain competency through required education and training.
  • Follow hazardous drug handling, PPE, infection prevention, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain organized treatment areas and assist with stocking.
  • Participate in department meetings, education, and quality initiatives.
  • Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and comply with privacy requirements.
  • Collaborate with physicians, APPs, pharmacists, medical staff, and care team.

Job description

  • Provide safe, compassionate, patient-centered care to patients receiving outpatient infusion therapies
  • Assess patients before and throughout treatment, including vital signs, treatment readiness, laboratory results, symptoms, and overall condition
  • Review chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and biotherapy treatment plans and orders for accuracy
  • Identify treatment-order discrepancies and communicate concerns with physicians, APPs, pharmacy/mixing teams, and clinical staff
  • Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, supportive medications, injections, and other prescribed treatments
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions, side effects, changes in condition, and treatment-related emergencies
  • Respond to infusion reactions and emergencies according to established protocols
  • Document assessments, treatments, patient responses, adverse reactions, interventions, and care-team communication in the EMR
  • Educate patients and families about treatments, side effects, medications, and when to contact the care team
  • Perform IV access, port access, phlebotomy, injections, and other nursing procedures within scope of practice
  • Maintain competency through required education and training
  • Follow hazardous drug handling, PPE, infection prevention, medication safety, and workplace safety requirements
  • Maintain organized treatment areas and assist with stocking supplies and medications
  • Participate in department meetings, continuing education, in-service training, quality improvement initiatives, and organizational training
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and privacy requirements
  • Collaborate with physicians, APPs, pharmacists, medical assistants, laboratory staff, and the multidisciplinary team
Requirements
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of South Carolina
  • Current BLS certification
  • Experience working with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) required
  • Strong assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented outpatient environment
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, safe, and patient-centered care
  • Previous experience in Hematology/Oncology, Chemotherapy Infusion, or an outpatient infusion setting preferred
  • Oncology nursing experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience with implanted ports and peripheral IV access
  • ONS Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Certificate or equivalent oncology education within 6 months of hire
  • ONS/ONCC chemotherapy and biotherapy education or certification
  • Must be available to work Monday through Thursday, at least 2 days per week per clinic and staffing needs
  • Must travel to all four clinic locations
  • Must maintain current RN licensure and required certifications
  • Must comply with HIPAA and organizational privacy requirements
