Job summary

Element Materials Technology in New Berlin, Wisconsin, seeks a Chemistry Technician/Chemist to test water, soil, minerals, and polymers, prepare samples, and generate test reports. You will operate ICP-OES, XRF, FTIR and related lab equipment, prepare reagents, calibrate instruments, and ensure ISO 17025 compliance.

You will travel to client sites for sampling and testing and collaborate with fellow technicians to meet project targets and budgets.

Qualifications

  • Have a diploma / degree in chemistry with at least 2 years experience in similar role
  • Be able to work in teams under pressure and flexible to work different working hours (night / day) shifts if required or necessary
  • Good English communication skills: reading, writing, speaking
  • Good maths skills
  • Knowledge and experience of safe operation of testing equipment and operating in an independent / chemistry / consultant laboratory

Responsibilities

  • Analysis of water-physical, chemical and polymer materials
  • Analysis of ores and minerals
  • Analysis of water, soil, aggregates, concrete and scale samples
  • Operate ICP-OES, Spark OES, XRF and FTIR, TGA, DSC and other lab equipment
  • Prepare reagents and standard solutions; ensure standardisation of solutions
  • Handle and store chemicals per MSDS
  • Calibrate glassware and instruments
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative tests; analyze substances per standard methods
  • Issue reports and receive samples from entities
  • Involve in site and field testing with international standards or in-house procedures
  • Ensure ISO 17025 compliance
  • Coordinate with technicians to follow planning
  • Manual handling of samples
  • General maintenance and cleaning of equipment
  • Work with HSE standards
  • Interact with clients during witnessed testing
  • Generate test reports for clients (data entry, QA)
  • Ensure compliance to Element Materials Technology quality standards
  • Travel to customer sites to collect samples or conduct testing at client labs
  • Assist in other activities to meet department targets and budgets

Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Chemistry Technician/Chemistfor testing, sample preparation and delivery/collection of samples and preparation of test reports.


Salary: $30- $39/hr DOE


Responsibilities


  • Analysis of water-physical, chemical and polymer materials

  • Analysis of ores and minerals

  • Analysis of water, soil, aggregates, concrete and scale samples

  • Operation of equipment for metal analysis i.e. ICP-OES, Spark OES, XRF, etc., equipment for polymer analysis i.e. FTIR, TGA, DSC, etc., and various other laboratory equipment i.e. pH / EC / TDS meters, ovens, furnaces, incubators, balances, etc.

  • Prepare the reagents, standard solution and ensure standardisation of the solution used in the laboratory

  • Handling and storage all chemicals as per the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)

  • Managing the calibration of glass wares and the instruments

  • Performance of qualitative and quantitative laboratory tests and analysis of other substances as per standard method

  • Issue reports and receive samples to and from the respective entities

  • Involvement in site and field testing with various international standards or in-house procedures

  • Ensure work compliance to ISO 17025 requirements

  • Coordinating with the other technicians in the team to carry out work as per the planning schedule

  • Manual handling of samples

  • General maintenance, cleaning and checking of equipment

  • Working to all HSE standards

  • Interaction with clients during witnessed testing

  • Generating test reports for clients (data entry, quality assurance)

  • Ensuring compliance to allElement Material Technologyquality standards

  • Driving to customer site to collect samples and / or conduct testing at their lab on a regular / daily basis

  • Willing to assist in other activities from time to time that may be requested by the department manager to assist in the execution ofElement Material Technologyannual targets and budget
