Job summary

Alignerr is seeking a Chemistry Subject Matter Expert (AI Training) for a remote, hourly contract. Design advanced chemistry problems and develop clear step-by-step solutions to benchmark AI systems. Collaborate with researchers, evaluate AI responses, and provide actionable feedback to improve AI reasoning across chemistry topics.

You will work 10–40 hours per week with flexible scheduling, applying your Master’s-level chemistry knowledge without prior AI experience required.

What You'll Do

• Design rigorous, advanced chemistry problems to benchmark AI performance across topics like chemical engineering, biochemistry, and physical chemistry
• Develop clear, step-by-step solutions that demonstrate structured reasoning and scientific accuracy
• Evaluate AI-generated responses for correctness, depth, and quality of reasoning
• Collaborate with researchers to refine evaluation benchmarks spanning undergraduate through Master's-level chemistry
• Provide actionable written feedback that helps AI systems improve over time

Who You Are

• Pursuing or holding a Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a closely related field
• Strong problem-solving ability across advanced chemistry domains
• Able to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and precisely in writing
• Detail-oriented with a systematic approach to evaluating quality
• No prior AI experience required - your chemistry knowledge is what matters

Nice to Have

• Experience with data annotation, data quality review, or evaluation systems
• Familiarity with AI language models or scientific benchmarking
